About the author...

Sarah grew up as a PK (Pastor’s Kid) and MK (Missionary Kid). She spent her teen years in the Philippines, which was a formative experience in helping to shape her into the person she is today. After completing her undergraduate work, Sarah taught at the elementary school level for seven years before becoming a mom and staying home with her children. She worked for a local ministry non-profit for almost a decade before deciding to pursue higher education.

Sarah is a graduate of Northern Seminary, where she completed a Master of Arts in New Testament. She had the privilege of studying with New Testament scholar and author, Scot McKnight, who also oversaw her thesis project- Lay Down Your Power: Reclaiming a Christoform Understanding of Power for the Church. She and her husband, Brandon, live in Northeast Ohio with their three older kids. She enjoys writing theology for the everyday person and serves as the Project Manager for MK Safety Net, a non-profit advocating for missionary kids who were harmed on the mission field. She is also passionate about walking alongside those harmed in the Church, particularly women who have experienced deep wounds due to patriarchal views.
